Update

Hmmm, so what's been going on recently? Not much with me, but a lot with Lynsey. She's got her dog obedience classes beginning on Saturday and she's started making homemade treats for dogs. I expect a production line to begin in my kitchen any day now. Maybe I should put a small fridge in the living room for my beer and meaty snacks.

I've booked my train tickets for my trip to London in April. I'll be staying with a couple of mates at London Bridge. Hopefully not UNDER London Bridge, but nearby. I'm a bit anxious about the whole thing because I like my own space when I'm staying away from home, not jam-packed into a room with others, but at least I'm saving money (a considerable amount of money because it's London).

We have a new guy at work, called Tim, who's in charge of bringing in new sales. He's a nice guy and I seriously hope he's successful. Recent profits aren't too healthy. I've applied for a job, doing a similar role, closer to home, which I've yet to hear back about yet, but I'm hopeful I'll at least get an interview for it.

Finally going to see Avatar tomorrow (in 3D). For a huge movie buff like myself to not have seen the highest grossing movie of all time, is just a travesty really. I'm looking forward to it as I have high expectations. I'm a fan of James Cameron and every review of Avatar I've read has been favourable. What did you guys think of it?

Took today off work. Not really sure why, just felt like it and it was my boss's idea anyway. I was update on everything because I worked my ass off yesterday. Nice to have a day off every now and then I suppose. Spent a good deal of it cleaning the house so we don't have to do it tomorrow and watching movies.

I started watching Funny People last night, but so far the first half an hour hasn't been particularly funny. However The Hangover wasn't that funny to begin with, neither was Knocked Up or The 40 Year Old Virgin, so I'll give some more time.

Just finished watching the remake of Last House on the Left. Pretty good, but I can't help but feel that it was pretty gratuitious with it's violence. No, I'm not a prude, I like violence as much as the next person, but violence for violence's sake is pointless.

Still got The Hurt Locker to watch and Wrong Turn 2 and The Firm (not the Tom Cruise flick, the 1980s Gary Oldman one about football hooligans.)

Why on earth is it hand's across America for Amanda Knox? Not all judicial systems are flawed compared to the American one. There's a possibility that she could be innocent, if she was convicted in America, she could be innocent, but she's been proven guilty!!!

Lynsey should be back any minute now with our Christmas Tree :-) We got a real one and for nothing this year - good times.

I love this time of year. Work is so relaxed, all the christmas lights are up and I just can't wait for Christmas. I think I got some excellent presents this year, I just hope everyone likes them. Only problem is that I have difficulty stopping buying presents - anyone else have that problem?

Not feeling very well today. Got a particularly bad stomach. Not unusual for me, but then it's not usually this bad. I did have a couple of beers last night, but normally a couple of beers don't make me feel this ill. Hmmmm, anyway, I'm sure it will pass.

Witnessed a massive bar brawl on Friday night. It just broke out while Gregg and I were at the pub. Stools were getting thrown, the bartender was getting laid into and multiple fights were happening simultaneously. It was really quite something to behold. Strangely though, it all died down, and everyone just went back to what they were doing afterwards. Weird!

There was also a fire in Hawick on Saturday. There were a hell of a lot of fire engines for one tiny flat fire. Mind you, they probably need the practice. Not much happens here. The whole of the high street was closed off meaning, rather annoyingly, that I couldn't make my barber's appointment!

Saturday night, at the dinner party, was good fun. Much alcohol was consumed and I even got a lend of ROADHOUSE! That film is so awesome. Patrick Swayze is a lean, mean, killing machine!

I've been toying with the idea of telling the story in my journal of my entire marriage from meeting her to the eventual break-up. It might be cathartic in some way. It's been three years since I left America, but I still have some leftover psychological problems preying on my mind every now and then. Do you think writing about something traumatic could be therapeutic?

Been having a lot of trouble sleeping recently and it's starting to really piss me off. I have a real fear about not being able to sleep. I get panicky and worked up and therefore decrease my chances of sleeping at all. On Thursday night I had to be up at six and I was still tossing and turning at 3 o'clock in the morning and I was in bed before 10. I mean that's just fucking crazy!! I know probably a lot of you and most people in general suffer from insomnia from time to time. I'm certainly not a CHRONIC insomniac, but do any of you have any methods for increasing sleepiness, disregarding pills and booze?

I'm back at work tomorrow and have a half day security course first thing. It would actually frighten you if you knew how easy it would be to get a bomb into the cargo hold of a plane, particularly because nearly all cargo flies on passenger flights. I'm the guy stopping them because i get to know how to make a bomb tomorrow and get to play around and sniff semtex - fun fun!

Anyone know anything about computers?

I mean REALLY know about computers. I have a problem.

When I left America 3 years ago, I put all my files onto a portable hard drive (a Que! M3 80 GB Drive). Since then most of the files have become redundant and no longer needed, but I still kept all of my music (along with some excellent porn) on this hard drive. Well last week the hard drive just stopped working. After fiddling about with it I came to the realisation that the problem was not with the hard drive, but with the power adaptor it was connected to. You see I've always had to have it plugged into a USA/UK adaptor and some kind of power adaptor to handle the different voltages between the US and UK.

After even more tampering I realised that the Hard Drive could become internal so I took it out of it's case, and put it into the floppy drive slot in the case. Unfortunately I had to disconnect the DVD drive to connect the new hard drive to the mother board as the floppy IDE cable was the wrong size. Does anyone know how to keep both hard drives and the DVD drive connected at the same time?

Life's going pretty well at the moment I think. I'm feeling pretty happy and content :-)

Lynsey and I are getting along well and have been for awhile now, which always helps and I've got a bunch of days of work next week too.

Doubtful that we'll be able to do anything with our time off because I'm trying to go one month without getting into debt. Really tightening the purse strings right now because October brings Lynsey's birthday. That means buying presents and a fancy dress costume. I think this year I'll be one of Miami Vice :-)

A grown up meme!

Tired of all of those surveys made up by high school kids?! Have you ever kissed someone? Missed someone? Told someone you loved them? Drank alcohol?

35 questions and my answers to them:

1. What bill do you hate paying the most?
Probably Gas (not petrol, natural gas) because it's so expensive and due to various reasons (for instance, our gas provider accidentally cancelling our account, changing our provider to someone else) it hasn't had to be paid for months.

2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner?
Weatherspoons!! Actually I don't think that was very romantic, maybe the Mayfield

3. What do you really want to be doing right now?
Sleeping, or having sex. So original!!!

4. How many colleges did you attend?
University of Aberdeen

5. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now?
Because it is a work shirt with my company logo on

6. What are your thoughts on gas prices?
Because I don't have a car anymore, I don't really have an opinion anymore and when I did have a car, I wasn't that bothered because none of my cars had a high fuel consumption.

7. First thought when the alarm went off this morning?
So tired!!!

8. Last thought before going to sleep last night?
Can't remember.

9. Do you miss being a child?
Sometimes, no responsibility, not needing to work, but then again you had to go to school which I LOATHED!!

10. What errand/chore do you despise?
Cleaning the house every saturday or cleaning out the cat litter tray

11. Get up early or sleep in?
Sleep in

12. Have you found real love yet?
Yes, a couple of times

13. Favorite lunch meat?
Ham, it's a classic

14. What do you get every time you go into Wal-Mart?
I used to always get a DVD, seeing as I'm in the UK, I'll assume this means ASDA.

15. Beach or lake?
Lake

16. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual?
No, despite my bad experience with marriage (being married to a fucking abusive whore) I still believe in marriage and would like to get married again. I'm off the opinion that every couple should eventually get married to show their commitment to each other. Unfortunately these days, marriage doesn't signify commitment..

17. Sopranos or Desperate Housewives?
Sopranos all the way

18.What famous person would you like to have dinner with?
Charlotte Church

19. Have you ever crashed your vehicle?
Not totally crashed it no, bumped it a few times, hit a deer and other wildlife, but never did any serious damage to it, I don't think my car spontaneously combusting was my fault either.

20. Ever use a fire extinguisher for it's intended purpose?
Nope

21. Ring tone?
Always on vibrate

22. Strangest place you have ever brushed your teeth?
God knows! Probably at work once

23. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to go?
San Francisco

24. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or a new relationship?
A new career!

25. How old are you?
28

26. Do you have a go to person?
Usually my mum

27. Are you where you want to be in life?
Not yet

28. Growing up, what were your favorite cartoons?
Thundercats, Count Duckula

29. What about you do you think has changed the most?
Probably my trust in people

30. Looking back at high school were they the best years of your life?
No fucking way

31. Are there times you still feel like a kid?
Yeah sometimes

32. Did you ever own troll dolls?
No, they were so stupid

33. Did you have a pager?
Never thank god

34. Where was the hang out spot when you were a teenager?
I stayed in the house most of my teenage years hunched over a computer screen

35. Were you the type of kid you would want your children to hang out with?
I doubt it, I'd like my kids to be popular

Well we got rid of Milly and got another cat called Thimble, who's a siamese. He's awesome, very friendly and inquisitive and Toby doesn't seem to mind him now (he hissed at Thimble a lot to begin with, but they're fine now).

This is him:

Things My Father Said - Black Stone Cherry

The things my father said would make me a better man
Hard work and the love of friends, a woman that understands.

I hope my father knows the seeds we've sown still grow
At night I go to sleep and pray he is watching over me.

Somewhere there's a star that's shining
so bright that I can see you smile.
And all that I need is one last chance
just to hear you say goodbye.

Sometimes I remember when you taught me to tie my shoes
One thing I will never forget is the day that I lost you.
I hope you always know the car that we built will always roll.

Somewhere there's a star that's shining
so bright that I can see you smile.
And all that I need is one last chance
just to hear you say goodbye.

And if you have a dream you better hang on for dear life!
And when that cold wind blows just let it pass you by.

Yeah, things my father said. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

Somewhere there's a star that's shining
so bright that I can see you smile.
And all that I need is one last chance
just to hear... you say... goodbye, goodbye.
Just to hear you say goodbye.
